Stag Lodge
Holiday Cottage Sleeps 8

Stag Lodge is a lovely four bedroom semi-detached cottage sleeping up to eight. (there is also a further bed for a ninth person by arrangement). The Victorian stone cottage, which is set above the road is warm and spacious, and was tastefully renovated throughout just a few years ago to create a modern home-away-from-home, which never forgets its Scottish roots.

The cottage has unspoilt view across the hills and estate, which has changed very little since Queen Victoria’s reign. It is the ideal retreat for a relaxing break in the Highlands, with walking, fishing and other outdoor pursuits widely available.

Warm and cosy in the winter, Stag Lodge is a lovely place to hunker down on even the frostiest of evenings, and during the warm summer months when the days are long and the nights short, this Scottish retreat is a wonderful place to watch the beautiful sunsets as the Highlands come alive in shades of gold and yellow.

From the outside the cottage with its colourful red wood panelling appears disarmingly simple and unembellished; however, step inside and a totally different impression emerges. Refurbished in 2013, the cottage offers spacious, clean and comfortable rooms all tastefully decorated and well finished.

Stag Lodge comes comfortably equipped, offering four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious lounge and kitchen/diner, fitted with everything from John Lewis white goods to champagne flutes and much more besides. It is also equipped to accommodate those planning to spend days in the mountains, walking, stalking, wading or riding. The handy utility/drying room will help transform wet muddy attire at the day's end to warm dry ready to wear items by the following morning.

Living Room

The attractive living room has classic rug covered wood flooring and gorgeous views of the garden and mountains beyond. This modern lounge is warm and cosy with the added bonus of an elegant open fireplace, making it the perfect place to warm cold feet and hands after a day in the mountains. In the summer, open the sliding French doors and let the warm fresh air with the lovely smell of Scottish Highlands fill the cottage.

There are two beautiful three-seater sofas on which to curl up and relax, and either watch the flat-screen TV, listen to music or read one of the many books provided. Two wicker armchairs are the best place to spy on the wide variety of birds, which visit the cottage's garden or just admire the breath taking views.

Utility Room

Like all good Highland cottages, Stag Lodge has a wonderful utility room with easily cleaned ceramic tile floor. This welcoming room is the perfect place to remove and store muddy boots, hang up coats and dry off wet dogs. With the boiler neatly fitted in the corner, the room is always warm and toasty and an ideal place to dry off damp clothes in preparation for the next day's adventures. The utility room is also home to the cottage's washing machine and tumble dryer, and beautiful Victorian clothes airers.

Master Bedroom

The Master Bedroom located on the ground floor is light and airy with a large window allowing light to touch every corner of this tastefully decorated room. With views of the glen and garden it is a lovely place to arise on a crisp sunny morning. A comfy double bed is gracefully placed in the centre of the room and made up with fresh bed linen and plump pillows.

Either side of the bed are bedside tables with reading lamps decorated with tartan lampshades, paying homage to the cottage's Scottish roots. There is plenty of storage with a wardrobe and chest of drawers, but for those too tired to put away their clothes a handy wicker chair is available to cast them on before diving into bed for a grand night's sleep.

Downstairs Bathroom

The practical and very handy downstairs bathroom can either be an exclusive en-suite to the Master Bedroom or a useful second bathroom for all the family to use. This lovely bright and clean room is fitted with a shower cubicle with two heads, a big heated towel rail, loo and sink with large mirror, which is excellent for reflecting light.

First Twin Bedroom

The fun twin bedroom with candy striped pastel bed covers and curtains is big and spacious. The lovely large window is perfect for watching the sun set behind the glen and all from the comfort of the wicker armchair. There is also plenty of storage with a large wardrobe and chest of drawers.

Second Twin Bedroom

The classic country twin bedroom with pine bed frames is a wonderful place to catch a good night's sleep. This comfy bolt-hole for either adults or children has lovely views of the Glencarron estate and is tastefully decorated in calming natural tones. Damp clothes can also be dried on the Victorian style wooden airer.

Third Twin Bedroom

The final twin bedroom with country cottage sloping ceilings is warm and cosy. The two full size single beds with wood frames are very comfortable and are great for getting a good night's sleep in preparation for another day in the Scottish Highlands. This narrow room is bigger than it looks with plenty of storage provided in the large wardrobe and chest of drawers. Overlooking the garden and with beautiful views of the estate the room is a nice place in which to wake at any time of the year.

Family Bathroom

Wood effect flooring returns in the stylish family bathroom. The warm and spacious modern room with cream walls and tiles is a lovely place to wallow in a deep bath, soothing aching limbs after a strenuous walk or just to relax and soak up the peace and tranquillity provided by this lovely Highland hideaway. The handy stool is the perfect place to rest a good book or glass of wine. The bathroom also has a useful hand-held shower attachment and slip resistant mat for extra safety.
